Joyology

Building Character Through Science and Engineering

Joyology is our signature enrichment course designed to cultivate excitement, curiosity, and essential character skills in a supportive and joyful environment. This unique class combines social-emotional learning with hands-on science and engineering projects that require students to collaborate. It's where we learn how to be a great student and a great friend.

We believe that the best learning happens when students are actively engaged in problem-solving and reflecting on the social dynamics required for success.

The core of Joyology is a dedicated hour each week focused on applied learning and teamwork. Students tackle engaging, real-world challenges while intentionally practicing crucial life skills.

  • Applied Science & Engineering: Students are engaged in dynamic, real-world challenges that introduce them to scientific methods and the engineering design process. They learn to ask questions, plan, create, and test solutions.

  • Collaborative Projects: The essence of the program is teamwork. Students must practice communication, active listening, and conflict resolution to successfully complete their projects.

  • Character Development: We explicitly teach and practice core character traits, such as perseverance, empathy, self-control, and responsible citizenship, through structured reflection tied directly to project outcomes.

  • Curiosity & Joy: This class is a dedicated space for students to take risks, ask questions, and embrace the wonder of discovery without the pressure of traditional testing.
