Before & After School Care
At Maureen Joy Charter School, we run a Before School Care and After School Care Program to support families who require additional supervision for their children before school and after school during the school year. These programs are run and staffed by MJCS employees, allowing for alignment with our mission, vision, systems and goals of the school.

Schedule
The MJCS Before School Care Program (BSC) is open all days that school is open, beginning on August 21, 2025 and ending on June 10, 2025. In the event of inclement weather that causes a delay in school opening, the Before School Care Program will not be open.
The MJCS After School Care Program (ASC) is open all days that school is open, with the exception of early release days from June 2 - 4 for EOG testing. In the event of an emergency early dismissal or inclement weather that causes the cancellation of after school programming, the After School Care Program will not be open.
Enrollment Options:
We offer flexible enrollment options to accommodate each family’s unique schedule. Families can choose to enroll for full weeks (up to 5 days) or partial weeks (up to 3 days.) Families can also choose to enroll for up to 2 hours or up to 1 hour.
Different rates are attached to these options. Families will select their enrollment option when signing up, and continue to pay at that rate each month. If needed, families can make adjustments to their child’s enrollment (for example, if their work hours change) by speaking to the BSC or ASC coordinator. Adjustments will go into effect in the next month, and cannot be made mid-month.
Rates:
Rates vary based on the number of school days in that month, as outlined by the chart below. Rates are monthly and payments are due by the 5th of each month (aside from August, when payments are due by August 27). All payments are electronic. We offer an autopay option that families can choose to opt into, which will automatically charge families on the 1st of each month. We offer a 10% discount to families who are enrolling 2 children, and a 20% discount to families who are enrolling 3 or more children.
Fees:
Families must submit payments on time in order to have access to the BSC and ASC programs. In the event that a student exceeds the time in BSC or ASC that they have enrolled and paid for (for example, if a child attends on a 4th day when they have only paid for 3 days per week), families will be charged an overage fee of $20 per hour. Families may incur up to 5 overage charges before the student(s) loses their spot in the BSC or ASC program.
Staff:
The Before School Care and After School Care programs each have a designated coordinator, who is the point of contact for the program. We operate at a minimum adult:student ratio of 1:15 for both the Before School Care and After School Care programs.
