Art Club

Art Club is a space for middle school students to further their own creative process and to work collaboratively. Each year, we work together to create a piece of art that is permanently displayed in our school. This has included murals, mosaics, and artwork for our LatinX and Black Excellence Rising programs. We meet every Monday from 4-5 PM.

The STEP Team is a club accepting members from 5th-8th Grades. The Team practices on Wednesday and Thursday from 3:30-6:00. Before practice, homework is required to be done for 30 minutes. The Team participates in parades, NCCU Homecoming, Holiday festivities, the MJCS Black History Celebration, the Latinx Heritage Celebration, and nursing home performances.

The Science Academy meets weekly to explore Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) topics.  Activities have included visits to Duke's 3-D Printing Lab; Red Hat, a technology company in Raleigh; and research into healthy eating choices that impact our health and our environment.  We are thrilled to inspire 7th and 8th Graders to pursue STEM-related courses in high school and college.

Jump Forward is a club for K-4 students, sponsored by the National Bouncing Bull Dog Champions from Durham/Chapel Hill. Participants attend annual Bouncing Bull Dogs clinics to learn new skills. The club focuses on new jump rope skills, hand-eye coordination, listening skills, teamwork, empathy, honesty, and developing new friendships. The team practices each Monday from 3:30 pm - 5:30 pm.
