Maureen Joy Charter School holds an annual enrollment lottery. Preference is given to siblings of current scholars. The enrollment application is released in December and the enrollment lottery is held in March.
What are your school hours?
Our school day is 8:00-3:30 Monday – Friday.
How will I know if my child has been accepted?
We will host a public lottery at 6:00 PM on March 5, 2018 at our school. After the lottery, applicants receive a letter in the mail with their admission status or wait list number if they are not admitted for the 2018-2019 school year. This letter is mailed approximately 1 week after the lottery date.
If I am applying for multiple children and one of them gets in, will all of them be accepted?
No. We treat every application individually. Only siblings of current Maureen Joy students receive preference.
How old must my child be to enroll in Kindergarten?
To apply to kindergarten, students must be 5 years old on or before August 31, 2018. This means the child must be born on or before August 31, 2012 in order to enroll in kindergarten. We require proof of a birth date prior to final acceptance.
Do I need to complete a separate application for each of my children?
Yes. Each child needs his/her own application.
Are students provided with transportation to and from school?
Yes, our school provides bus transportation to most locations in Durham County.
Who is eligible to apply?
All students residing in the State of North Carolina are welcome. Maureen Joy Charter School does not discriminate on the basis of race, creed, national origin, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, mental or physical disability, special needs, English language proficiency, athletic ability, or academic achievement.
